Andrews & Shull, P.C.

Practice Areas

Below is an overview of the practice areas in which the attorneys at Andrews & Shull specialize.

Family Court Litigation
Unfortunately, the latest estimates are that one in every two marriages suffers from a divorce or other actionable domestic strife. Often times, litigation is the problem solving paradigm to which the parties must resort. Litigation consists of preparation and service of pleadings (complaint, answer, counterclaim, and motions); Discovery (depositions, interrogatories, etc.) to determine the nature and substance of the other parties’ case; motion practice; and, if needed, trial and its preparation. Lon Shull, Shannon Jones, and Julianne Stokes are the lawyers at Andrews & Shull who focus on family court litigation.

Alternative Dispute Resolution
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is a broad label that encompasses, at a minimum, mediation and arbitration. Mediation uses a neutral, independent facilitator who assists the parties in coming to an agreement. The agreement is reached not by the order of a third party (like a judge) but by consensus of the parties. Mark Andrews, a principal of Andrews & Shull, has established a statewide practice and reputation as a talented mediator.

Arbitration is similar to trial, but is held before a neutral, independent third party who is chosen by the parties. While the ultimate decision is rendered by someone other than the parties, control over who that person is and the rules for the arbitration are usually agreed to by the parties.

Civil Litigation
Civil Litigation refers to the Discovery and Trial of matters other than Family Court issues. Both Lon Shull and Shannon Jones maintain a civil litigation practice which includes personal injury and worker’s compensation.
